Some nice powder ski runs from guys at Mountain Spirit Guides - enjoy! www.marmottemountain.comAfternoon lap in the trees while the storm was holding its breath for a moment. The quietness, and having cold snow down to the valley floor is the best about December skiing. Storm continues and it's safe to say we'll have a white Christmas in Chamonix this year.
Winter season 2017/18 has started well - here's the team from Mountain Spirit Guides in action - enjoy. www.marmottemountain.comStill in the middle of the first huge storm cycle this winter, which is hitting the majority of the Alps... We chose to meet the storm in St Anton am Arlberg for the past 3 days, where there was already a good base from before, powder was perfectly deep and re-filled at a steady pace. In many other places the amounts of snow has actually been too much, on top of a fragile base, that skiing has been very limited. But it will settle soon and you need not await xmas for the pre-season powder skiing this year.
More of the Chamonix Ski Lift system to open this weekend - 1m of snow is also forecast for the weekend - great start to winter! www.marmottemountain.com⛷ SKI AREA OPENINGS ⛷
In the wake of Grands Montets and Les Houches which opened last weekend, the ski areas of Brevent, Flegere and le Tour will also open this coming weekend. We hope to see you on the pistes in the Chamonix Valley !
Ben Tibbetts Photography North Couloir - Pointe de la Terrasse, Chamonix Few clips from today with Tom Coney... no fancy shots as it was too windy and cold to fly the drone or fiddle with a proper camera, but already some good snow out there!!!
For any locals... below 2200m the snow was very thin and stripped bare by the wind... ... See MoreSee Less
